torque wrench adaptor for cylinder base nuts

Post by pumpguy »

I want to use a torque wrench to tighten the cylinder base nuts on my KDX 200 H series. I could probably do it with an open end crowfoot but don't want to risk rounding off the corners of the nut. It seems to me what is needed is a 12mm 12 point box end crowfoot wrench. I tried a 12mm flare nut crow foot but there's not enough clearance and it won't fit. Does anybody know if a 12mm box end crowfoot is even available? I couldn't find any. How do "those that know" use a torque wrench on these nuts?

I bought a MAC 12 pt adapter for a lot more money... :? But that is just what you need. Keep in mind that you will need to adjust the torque setting of the torque wrench to accommodate for the added length.

I should probably get one of those. I've always just used a wrench with my calibrated human arm  They need to be tight, and the same more than being a specific value....Never had a problem.

a simpler way to torque it without using the formula is to turn the adapter perpendicular to the torque wrench and use the specified torque value. this puts the box-end or crows-foot part of the adapter in the same plane as the dive of the torque wrench . it's an acceptable industry practise in aviation maintenance.
