Hi, Just installed my spare rear wheel because I destroyed the original one. I installed new bearings but the right side bearing is loose in the hub.

What is the good method to fix this?

Ouch... Time for a new hub? Maybe see if you can get a 1mm oversized bearing?

It depends how loose it is. I had an XR200 that had a really loose hub on the brake side. I took a center punch and made a bunch of dimples to add some interference and expoxied it in. The bearing did not last long, I think what happened was that the bearings were not on the same center line any more.
Either that or the bearing pocket had become too deep, I don't relly know.

Locktite makes some products for mounting bearings. If I got into a situation like that again I think I would dimple the hub, use an appropriate Locktite product and use the axle to line up the left and right bearing.

Loctite bearing mount is the product. If used, you may have a problem getting the bearing out next time you want to change it. Depending on how bad the bore is, there may be a problem with the centers ending up not being in line. Probably best to see if you can get it bored out and bushed back to size. I was told Jeff Fredette bores his hubs out and uses 4 bearings. Maybe this is something he could fix for you.

A machine shop could knurl that for you? A more "proper" way of fixing it.

I would try the loctite bearing mount and reinstall the wheel to the swing arm as soon as possible to let it set with the axle installed and tight to help with the center line allingment issue. I have seen that bearing mount save some old junk that the customer didn't want to spend the money on to fix the right way.

You should be able to get some brass shim-stock that will do the job. Different thicknesses are available to suit-

Your posts made me wondering all day at work. Thanks! In the meantime I found some brass shim where I work. This material is really great and did great like Kawagumby bring here. I installed it and went for a 1 gallon trail test. KDX is now back on the track!

My WR is like that too. I used JB weld to fix it knowing the next time I do bearings I'll be needing a hub.

A good reason to use good bearings. Sure, I can install a $5 bearing..2-3 times a year. Or, I can install a quality bearing..every 2-3 years.

Your hub will last longer with the latter.
