How do you carry spare tools & water??

Post by edog600 »

I have the stock bag on the rear fender but it's awfully small, can't fit a whole lot in there. Is there a bigger aftermarket bag? Looking for some economical ideas. Thanks

Camelback or a backpack for me. Depends on what type of ride I am doing.

I'd like to try a camelback. For now I use a regular backpack for long rides

I wear a pressure suit under my jersey with the pack on top. Works wicked.

I wear a chest protector and use a Hydrapak, its a knock off of a camelbak. I got it for mtn biking several years ago, and it has lasted rather well! It has about 6 zippers, so plenty of storage, and a 100 oz bladder for fluids.

The layers do get warm in the summertime, but its nice to have water without stopping. I also carry a few spark plugs and small tools in the Hydrapak.

Just watch what you put in there, you dont want anything that may poke you , if you take a soil sample.

same here, i got a camel back with a 100 oz bladder and a handfull of pockets
the fender bag has a plug, screw driver and a plug wrench in it

the trailer is (soon to be) equiped with a 5 foot wide toolbox which is big enough to fix an entire KDX minus the wheels and frame so all i would need out there i can bring very close to where i need to be :)

Tools and stuff in a fanny pack, I have a G.I. canteen attached to the back of my armor with a hose up front through the cap. No cleaning issues with the plastic canteen - and the whole setup is less than $20.

I carry water and trail supplies in a Dakine Drafter hydration pack (meant for mtb use, but perfect for motorcycles). Has the Hydrapak 3l resevoir which is awesome...best bladder system out there. You can find this pack for $59 at Pricepoint.com, worth every penny.

I also carry a tool pack/belt, mine is a Klim scramble. Having the tools on your waist is better than on your back, as far as what you feel.

The only thing on my bike is a Tusk fender pack for a spare tube and C02 cartridges.

For regular riding days, I pack a few necessary tools in my cheap wal-mart hydration pack. If it's a longer trip, I take the bladder from my hydration pack and stick it in my backpack, along with whatever else I may need.

I use a camelback with a few plugs and have a front fender pack with a spare tube along with some wrenches for getting the wheel and tire off
