I was wandering around some websites last week and found an old MXA write up of some early 90s KX125 mods.
One of the mods was a spacer under the KIPS housing, the one on the left side of the cylinder, the spacer looked to be mabe 5mm thick.
The write up stated the increased volume created by the spacer helped with low to mid power on the KX125.
Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

Re: KIPS spacer?
Ive seen them on the fleabay for either the 250 or the E model KDX (cant remember which one)
I have to admit im not sure how the whole thing works but it seems very plausible
i gues the real question is: are you absolutly gaining power or just "trading" it?
I mean, there has to be a reason kawasaki decided on the volume it right?

KIPS spacer?
I would think it is only going to effect the low end and do nothing to top end power. On the E-series, once the rpm's reach 6,000, the sub valves open and the passage to the resonator is closed off so it should be no trade off.

Re: KIPS spacer?
I had a spacer on an E-series with 607 reeds and a woods pipe. It definitely had a little more hit on bottom. Didn't really notice any loss on top. I want to say the spacer was from Moose Racing back when they were a local shop, before the name was sold to the clothing company.
