hey guys
i have a project KDX 200 im working on and it needs a new top end, new piston, replate, the works
as ive been scouwering the internets for the best prices on parts ive noticed cylinder sleeves
i've heard a lot about replating, but what about sleeving ?
is it a inferior option?
i'd imagine it couldnt be too expensive to have the head machined to fit the sleeve, and since no one locally replates it would save on shipping costs
what are you guys's thoughts?
sleeving, yea or nay?

I would always choose a replate over a sleeve. Sleeves can have all sorts of issues with port alignment, poor heat transfer, and it moving after installation. Admittedly, if you get a good reputable shop who has done 2T sleeves to do it none of those should ever be a problem but with a replate they are non-issues.

A sleeved cylinder won't last near as long as plated cylinder. We used to get about 2 seasons out of steel cylinders before needing overboring, the plated cylinders can last much longer.

After buying a sleave and paying for the work to have it put in and fitted you are up to about the same money as a replate and you have a less durable bore.
Years ago I fell for having a cylinder sleaved and it ended up costing me more then if I would have bought a brand new cylinder. And the sleaved cylinder would self destruct a fresh top end in about 5-10 hours of riding. Yes it was put together right and the jetting was too fat if anything.
