Just bought an 88, and wondering what the best gear box oil for it would be? Also, anyone have any idea on adjustments for my throttle cable? Looking for the best fit. Thanks

let me rephrase that, what GRADE oil?

Store brand SAE30 is my preference. Some like ATF. Don't use any oil that says 'energy conserving' on the EPA tag on the back of the bottle.

Someone told me to use ATF Type F. Does it have to be "Type F"? Or if "Mercon/Dexron" work too?

I like ATF. It's cheap.

I use, and abuse, ATF Type F. You can use the Dexron/Mercon but it will slip just a bit more but not enough to really notice.
