Still having idle problems

Post by Trails Boy »

I was told on one of my later posts that part of my idle problem could be a bad seal on the left side of the crank case? Would that be the clutch cover? Totally confused please help.

Also I just got done with the rebuild and can actually pull a wheelie for once!

When anyone says left/right side they are talking about as you sit on the bike to your left or to your right. The bad seal they are probably talking about is the left side (shifter side) crank seal. It is a common problem on older bikes as the seals harden with age and wear out.

Image Okay is the cover here with Kawasaki on it considered the left side crank case then? So that seal?

Yes, that is where he was talking about. That is the left side. If you take that cover off and it has a pool of oil (not water), then you most likely have a problem.

Yes. If there is premix or oil residue then the seal is leaking.

Well I know this doesn't exactly mean there's not a air leak but I was able to adjust the lower adjustment on the cable and get it to idle! :D

Try it out and see what happens. If the idle seems to be better then ride it. If your not sure keep an eye on your plug and see if it goes white or stays a fairly consistent color.

I took it for a ride and it does great! It bobbles a little when I go from low speed to mid speed... Do I need to adjust the needle?
