Does anyone actually have one of the crankshaft jigs (part # 57001-1174)? If so, could you measure it for me so I know the exact gap it is to maintain between the crank halves? I really need to get my crank centered but I don't seem to have anything that fits well between the halves so I can hammer it into the correct position.

Just do it!! It does not take a lot of force. The interference fit of the crank pin is MUCH more than the interference fit of the bearings. Should be no problem to knock it over a mm or so.

Jig would be handy though, for piece of mind at least.

I have the mythical jig. It's adjustable, so it works for lots of different bikes. It adjusts to whatever gap you have between the crank halves. If you want to borrow it, I'd be happy to send it. However, it would certainly be quicker to just center it without the jig. It's probably unnecessary.

I have a few of them. They are tapered a bit. Have you got a chisel? The mid - late 70's Kawasaki dirt bike manuals show them using a chisel ( a little one, not one to break apart tree sections).

I do have e several chisels. OK, maybe I'm just being overly paranoid as usual.
