Can anyone determine what these hidden gem is that I found in my crankcase last night?

I also found some nice wear marks in the basket and chips an scrapes in the rest of the rotating mass.

Is this bad enough to replace or just file and reuse?

Your basket notching looks O.K. A quick touch with a file and I'd call it good.

I don't know what that part is.

kips governor remnant. you need to inspect your clutch and fish out ALL the pieces or you'll be looking into buying some more expansive parts...

Thanks... we will go fishing. Can I run the bike without that part for a few hours OR will it do damage to the motor?

I cleaned everything I could without pulling the side cover off. Filed the high spots down, put in the new clutch and is back together.

What exactly does that shaft do?

Thanks for all the help.

I filed down all the high spots, cleaned out the case as best as I could and put a new clutch in her.

Ran good without the pin but there was a good amount of metal in the oil again so there must be something still not right.

I've looked on the parts breakout but don't see that part specifically. Anyone have a bead on a parts breakdown?

Also looking to find out what that shaft does.

the kips governor (broken part in your 1st pic) is what activate the kips valve, without it your kips is non functional.
you need to disable them by either keeping them open all the time or closed all the time. Do a search, there should be a few post on how to do this.
if you don't disable them, they might close/open at the WRONG time i.e when you least expect it you might have a surge of power that could put you in trouble.
clear as mud?

as for the metal in your oil, are you sure it's not clutch fiber?
Did you soak your clutch plate a few hours before installing them?
is it aluminum or iron based? use a magnet.

We will check when I get back with the magnet to determine iron on alum.

The clutches soaked for 3 days before installation. I will do a better exam at the next oil change.

As far as the KIPS, I'll do some seaching to come up with the post. As far as the parts breakout. i'll look that up and will verify that I am on the right path.

Thanks for the schooling.
