Ya'll like the look better without the moderators listed by each forum? The moderators haven't changed, they just aren't listed anymore.

When I click on links contained in a post I'd rather have a new tab open up instead of taking me away from the kdxrider.net site. Is this a configuration option?

Not sure, I'll do some testing. What browser are you using? I know that in IE under advanced settings "re-use windows for launching shortcuts" can affect this. I'm sure there is a similar setting in firefox/chrome. When I click links in firefox, I usually just click with the middle mouse button to make sure they open in a new tab.

I use chrome mostly, but ie is working the same way. I bet you've already come across this link as it was the first I found in my search :)

Yes, it's definitely a function of the phpBB3 html code. It does not look to be a difficult fix.

Thanks. The new forum is much improved for sure. A real plus is that the search functions correctly now. I can actually search now and relevant results appear.

By the way, I just got this notice in my email and it shown the ip address instead of the name of the site:

"If you want to view the newest post made since your last visit, click the
following link:
http://67.222.34.237/forums/viewtopic.p ... 3&e=113523

If you want to view the topic, click the following link:

If you want to view the forum, click the following link:

At 12:50 est I got the notification with the domain name as I would expect:

As for the IP vs domain name, our old host is giving me a bit of a time with transferring the domain name. They put a lock on it when they found out I was moving to another host. I had to leave the domain name registered with them, and point the nameservers to the new host. There may be some things like that over the next few days while the new name servers propagate across the interwebs. It will be sorted properly eventually.

I'm going to work on the link opening in new windows tonight. Shouldn't take long.

Thanks for all the input, keep it up! It's really good to get input from the member base on such large changes as what is taking place here. I have obviously always loved this site, and I don't want to change things too drastically, but some things simply have to be brought up to date if we're going to be sticking around for a while, which we certainly plan on doing!

Just wondering what happened to the "posts since last visit" button?
I miss it...

So the code changes I made last night for the opening of links externally broke the forum. Had to do some emergency repairs. Note to self, always back up files before making changes! I'll try again tonight.

Thanks again everyone, for the feedback, patience, and just for being here!

Why not save a copy of the website to a hard drive & do your tests there? Or a jump drive even. Should easily fit if you exclude the forum posts database, afaik.

maybe we should have a section called "bike tuning" or "how to" or something along these line where we could list all the links for:
-tuning carb properly
-tuning suspension properly
-just got a new bike what should I do?
-basic mod list how to
-part list cross ref...

...
seems the jetting how to is kinda burried in the jets and needles section where 99 % of new members can't find it.
I think a recap would be great.

I like that idea. Perhaps something at the top of the general section? KDX Tips and tricks, perhaps? We could consolidate some of the sticky information there and use it as an opportunity to clean up the General Q&A stickies.
