kips rod oring

Post by eroknroll »

I pulled apart my head to give the kips a good scrub and lost the little oring that goes around the left rod. Does anyone no where i can get one? The schematics i have looked at dont seem to show that oring? Can i get away without it?

Thanks

Do you have a hydraulics repair shop nearby----those guys can usually furnish you with any size o-ring. take the one off the other side in with you and let them match it.

They call that o-ring a packing ring, for some reason. Do a search on the term "packing" and I bet you find reference to it from some years ago.

Every engine I've broken down (first disassembly since new) has come with the "packing" only on the right side.

True.
Mr. Eroknroll may be talking about the other left rod.

Anyway, you do need it. The exhaust gasses will make a mess under that cover where the pawl gear is.

Yeah, I meant the other left.....

I am having a heck of a time getting ahold of one since it doesn't show up in the parts schematic. Does anyone have a part #?

I was happy the find the packing oring in my zip lock that had the rest of my parts for the tear down.
