Hi guys, I'm looking at a KDX220 on craigslist and it looks pretty beat. It has the silver frame so I'm guessing it's an '04?
I'm told there has been routine maintenance on the motor which is all I really care about (I have an '02 kx125 looking to do a hybrid). The exhaust has some normal 2 stroke drool (not excessive) but around the countershaft sprocket there is an oil leak. Is this just because of a bad seal?
I'm able to get this bike for $500 but I'm hoping the motor isn't just hours from failure. Are there any KDX specific issues to look for? Any info would be great. Thanks.

For that price, you can't go too far wrong.
You should be able to take the motor, cdi, rear wheel and other parts you need for the hybrid and sell the rest for close to what you paid for it.
You'll want to put a Wiseco piston in it anyway before you hybrid it.
