Side Stand Bracket Question

Post by Fatherof2 »

Hi Gang,

I bent my kickstand bracket so that when the stand is down, it goes STRAIGHT down. There is no lean to the bike.

How can I fix this? Take it off, and bring it to a machine shop to heat it and bend it? Thoughts?

They are 50 bucks on Babbits including shipping! Ouch! I would rather try to fix this one.

Thanks for any help.

I'd probably remove it from the bike, then heat and beat it myself. I know this is a beefy part but I bet you can fix it.

I have bent mine a little, not straight but some and was able to lay the bike over and swing the stand down then just pulled on it until it looked right. Might be worth a try before you remove it. If you think its not going to go than take it off and heat it up some.

Put it in a vise and whack it with a hammer.

Yes, cold bending would be better than heating it if it will go that way. Heat alters metal, usually not for the better.
