Going back to Stock muffler

Hi. My KDX came with a FMF muffler and a FMF fat pipe. I want to buy a stock muffler from Ebay to quiet the bike down.

(1) Is stock muffler compatible with my FMF fat pipe?

(2) If I install a stock muffler, will I need to rejet the bike?

Did you try to repack the FMF? It should be relatively quiet. Good for you on keeping it as quiet as possible!

Yes, I repacked it with FMF material. The bike is relatively quiet compare to MX bikes at the track. But I want to get as much quiet as I can. Trying to go stealth. Neighborhood backwood recon mission. My XR200 is much quieter.

Stock silencer will probably be a touch quieter. The stock pipe would certainly quiet it down even more, for stealth missions!

I'm running an FMF pipe and stock silencer. I like quiet too.

if you are willing to trade off power for silence you could go with the stock exhaust pipe :butthead:

you're not losing any power when installing the stock muffler  nothing wrong in wanting a quieter bike and virtually no power loss...

Wasn't talking about the mufler...I thought we had decided on that already
I was talking about the expansion chamber

As you like. I didn't really notice much difference in noise level between the FMF, DG, or stock silencer. The stock double walled expansion chamber soaks up a lot of noise. I'd wager that the stock expansion chamber with either silencer would be quieter than an aftermarket expansion chamber and stock silencer. Be a fun test, anyway.

I almost went back to the stock exhaust as well, but decided to mod a trx250r Q silencer to fit, 94db anyone?

We sound test all bikes in the AMRA series and KDX's with stock silencers normally test out at 88 or 89db.

He stated with that figure with the turbine core, but that's crazy quiet with stock. Need to get my bike tested, but I have never ran into freaking ranger. Its way quieter than the PC S/A that came on it. FMF claim 96DB with the Q silencer, which is their second most quiet silencer, first being the Q stealth..
