what a stupid mistake!

Post by ukkdx200 »

cant believe what an idiot ive been!

washed bike left exhaust bung in, few days later start her up forgeting the bung is in the exhaust! ooopppsss

anyway thought I had got away with it but noticed fluid under the bike, had a check over and it looks like its only coming from where the exhaust meets the engine so am I right in thinking all I need is to take the exhaust off and put a new gasket in? hope its that simple?! being very new to dirt bikes do I need to put any other sealant or anything or just the gasket?

cheers

yeah a gasket should be fine, you can't really damage anything by leaving the exhaust bung in. I've done this several times on accident

Just get some permatex right stuff and use that around the exhaust. It is ready to ride immediately after assembly and isn't affected by the heat. The new o-rings alone would not have sealed well on my bike.

Sounds like it might be time for some cleaning, and jetting.

Don't worry about it. No big deal. May as well take off the exhaust, clean everything you can, and seal it back up.

I've done the same thing before - more than once....
