MX style rear fender

Post by asmed12345 »

I think the MX style rear fenders look better than the stock ones so have any of you put one on your bike? if so what type did you use and did it work well?

I agree that MX fenders look better. I did one on my '90 but I didn't go the traditional route. I used one from '06-'08 Yamaha YZ450F. I think it looks way better than the stock one. Here is a pic of when I was fitting it before disassembling my bike.

I recently put a kx500 rear fender on my H KDX, Fits perfectly with one realy small adjustment and that is : cut a piece about 1-2 square cm out on the side of the fender because there's the bracket for the coolant tank..
And I've ordered a enduro rear fender with light on ebay that goes beneath the fender.
In my opinion it looks a lot better than the original one (and in Holland a licence plate must be vertical).
For photos take a look at my members bike profile, I can't copy paste the link because I'm on my phone.

Hope my English is good readable ?

edit : now on my computer :

And how I'm planning how the bike's (and for you I mean the taillight and mudflap) gonna be when I'm done with it.

I have a Maier rear fender for my 2000 model KDX but I haven't installed it yet. I've been slowly buying parts to completely re-build the bike when I take it apart to do the fork swap. New bearings, new plastics, etc....

One of the guys here does. I've seen a pic somewhere. Looks alright, but tools go in a backpack not on the bike for me.

I love the kx5 fender on an e series KDX. The E bike and the KX5 are so close in form anyway, it just fits the lines. The sharper fenders on the older E series just don't look right. On the H, I think the Maier fender looks best.

Agree, My opinion is that when you alter the looks of your bike it needs to look like a way how it came out of the factory.. But he thats just how I think about it.

Adjusting the looks of your bike is always a personal thing, unless your that kind of person that does everything for somebody else's opinion :p but then you would not ride a KDX but drive a hybrid car haha.

I like the way the YZ450f fender looks on my E. It is straighter than stock but not completely straight. I think it works with the KDX lines very well. To each their own and if you don't like it, well... :butthead:

I'd like to see how it fits to the airbox. I tried putting a universal MX rear fender on my 92, and ended up scrapping it.

There is a gap but I have an idea on how to address it and not look like crap. I'll be posting pics of it in my build thread when I get to that part.
