Expansion pipe bent, verdict please

Post by swatts »

Hello everyone,
Expansion pipe is bent, leaking badly straight out of the cylinder, spooge on the back of the front fender, broken connection at one mounting point off by over an inch out and back as in the photos, smoke goes up not out, just wondering what my options are, if any, ie, are there miracle pipe workers out there that can straighten this, or is my best bet a new expansion chamber?
Thanks,

The shape of the pipe is very important to the performance of a 2 stroke engine. If in doubt, buy a new one. Or someone on here may have an OEM one to sell.
This is my rifle, this is my gun, the YZ to go fast, the KDX is for fun!

I've used Pacific Crest before and they did a very good job on the pipe (FMF pipe for a CR250). That said, I'd buy a new aftermarket pipe for a KDX before I'd have the stocker repaired.

Thanks everyone, really appreciate the feedback, I would rather not have the OEM back, so, saving up for a new FMF Gnarly, hoping I can re-use the Fredette fibreglass pipe armour I have, finger's crossed. I guess I have to buy new OEM O-rings, springs and bolts etc as FMF doesn't have a kit for the KDX (Even from Fredette racing products page)?

New pipe will come with o-rings, and I can't remember if mine came with springs or not. Know it came with a neat spring puller tool so it may include them too.
