Someone did at one point. There are some older KX wheels that you can bolt on, or you can lace a 19" rim up to your stock hub. IMO the 18" is much better for trail riding. That's why most trail bikes come with them stock. More sidewall for absorbing hits from rocks and roots. 19" rims belong on the MX track....

A 2000 KX250 wheel will fit right on using the KDX wheel spacers. I had it on more just to see if it would fit.

what is the benefit of 19" vs 18"? why do mx'ers use them?

MX'ers use them as the tires are lighter weight and they don't need the rim protection like an off road bike gets from an 18".

The difference is pretty subtle, at least to me.

With a 19" wheel the tire sidewall is shorter. The OD of both 18" and 19" is about the same. I'd guess for MX it gives a "sharper" feel, I don't know. For offroad, the 18" offers a bit more flex for roots and rocks.

I had 18" on everything for years, 19" on the hybrid and back to 18" on the KTM. I run 9-1/2 PSI and can't really tell a difference. 18" might feel a little more "pillowy" over roots and ruts.

It is not something I would exert to much effort changing.

Im thinking about mounting a Knobby on my 19" wheel so I can alternate between the trials tire and knobby when appropriate.
