Does a 38 Pilot Jet sound too lean ?
I hate to admit it but, I have never completely gone through the jetting exercise.
Finally did ! Man what a difference. My bike is running tight ! And FAST.
It had a 42 PJ in it. When I adjusted the air screw, it seemed like I had to get it about 5 turns out to get to the top of the idle. The air screw was about to fall out !
I dropped it to a 38 and I'm pretty sure it's running best at about 1.5 turns out.
I've read a bunch of jetting posts here and it didn't seem like a lot of ya'll are running 38 PJs. So I'm wondering.
220 with RB carb and head......thx

I too run a 38 in my 220 with the RB mods, woods pipe, and v-force reeds.I normally ride 750' to 2000' asl.Thinking i was doing something incorrectly I messed around with needles and mains only to come back to the 38.Using ethanol free fuel helped clear up some confusion as well as make the results repeatable.

You'll know if the pilot is too lean. Anything 1/4 throttle and below it will bog out. Honestly, try a 40 in there and see if it's any "crisper."ihatefalling wrote:OK....thanks for the feedback guys.
Guess I'm not used to my bike hitting so hard so I was worried about it being too lean.
