ok.......here,s the deal


replacing mechanical seal for water pump.2003 ---200kdx

are there any tricks to removing bearing and mech seal... i dont have the special tools designated in factory manual.... but assume some home grown skill can do the job...


any suggestions comrades ....

If it's the same idea as my 89 it should come out with hand tools.
Side cover comes off then you can get at that bearing and seal. They say to use molybdenm (spelling) grease to grease the shaft. Also check the shaft for scoring from the seal. Mine was a bit and I ended up polishing it out with 4000 grit paper. yes 4000 (body shop clearcoating paper)

sweet thanks for the feedback...will check shaft etc etc..


yep got the manual,,,it shows special tools to remove bearing then u can access seal,,

i shall overcome......,

I believe the '89 uses a simple rubber seal (from looking at the parts break down) where the later models, from '91 up I think, are a mechanical seal. Don't get grease on the carbon surface of the new seal and be very gentle with it as it will break easily.
