cuting the silencer shorter
If i do this, will I need to mod the silencer at all or can I just ride as is?
Also, what are the advantages and disadvantages in doing this?
(I just want the shorty silencer look)

What are the possibilities of cutting the pipe that leads up to the silencer?
This would move the silencer forward...giving you the look you want without sacrificing the function of it

Found this on ebay. Kinda rough but appears to be short.

Pro Circuit makes a shorter silencer with out a spark arrestor. I bought a PC spark arrestor off ebay cheap, but ended up putting the stocker back on mainly because it doesn't melt my turn signal. The only advantage to aftermarket silencers are a slight weight savings IMO.

Having done this, I can tell you that you will lose the spark arrestor, and the max power will be moved sightly lower in the RPM range. 125 MX bikes often run shorty mufflers on shorter tracks, for slightly quicker corner to corner bursts of speed. A longer stinger/muffler will lengthen the top end delivery.

The E series silencer could be cut down and retain the spark arrestor but we're talking about an H series here, right? I don't think I would actually do it but who knows, maybe I will just for the hell of it! It would be fun to see what difference it makes in power and sound levels.

When I did my hybrid, I couldn't find a 02 KX 250 silencer so I had to modify my forest approved FMF one. I had to cut about 1.5-2 inches.
Can't say it's any louder or that I gain/lost anything in power, hard to tell for sure since the pipe was lengthened about 1 inch to reach the cylinder...

I doubt it.So could I just do what Diymirage said and cut the pipe leading up to the silencer so it will still be the full silencer?
The silencer fits in a bulge under the side panel plastic, the curve in the pipe leading into the silencer just clears the airbox, and the mounting tabs on the silencer have to line up with mounting points on the frame and subframe.
Shortening the stock silencer for an appearence issue alone seems like a lot of trouble.
I once had a girlfriend who wasn't very pretty. There were some other things about her that made her a keeper.......
You could always buy another silencer and cut IT up.

you'd have to weld new mounting tab and custom fab a tube from the pipe to the silencer...and unless you've got a welder can be very tricky and expensive.
You'd also have to make sure the relocated pipe is not gonna hit the swingarm when fully compressed...
Just for the look ain't worth it.
