I have been using this stuff, and I hate it! It turns mud into a sticky mess that requires LOTS of elbow grease to get off!
Thank you,
David

i wonder (and i appologize if this is a stupid idea) how chainsaw chain lube would hold up ?
it seems a chainsaw chain gets put through even more abuse then a KDX chain so if the lube works in that situation it should also work on the trails right ?

I think if you have an O ring chain, you don't really need to lube it. I spray a little penetrating oil on mine to keep it from rusting after washing.

I use the Maxima lube on both O-ring and non O-ring chains. I think sticky is a good thing for lubrication.

Rem-oil rocks!
Chain bar oil is basically plain-jane motor oil.

Dupont Teflon lube from Lowes. Not nearly as much mess as others. Been using it on my streetbike for a few years now.

For me, on an o-ring chain, no lube is the best lube.
the lube can't get anywhere it will do any good, anyway.

DID recommends lubing your chain, as the grease is only in certain areas of the chain.

YMMV.

To guard against corrosion on O ring chains, which is the idea behind the penetrating oil.

I run an o-ring chain (doesn't everybody?) and just spray it down with WD-40 after every ride, and wipe it off with a rag. It stays nice and clean (I have one of those fancy looking Gold ones). I have been using this method for years, and I have never noticed any accelerated wear, or any other issues. A chain/sprocket set usually lasts me at least a full year of casual trail riding use.

I've been using "Lucas Oil" Chain Lube. It is foamy when it comes out, then turns to liquid in a few seconds. That makes it easy to spray it where you want it. It also penetrates very well.
I hear lots of people say that they don't lube an O-ring chain. Just my opinion.....but, I think that the rollers still need a film of lube between them and the sprockets to reduce friction. At the very least. Right?

No.
Nothing will stay there any longer then a few seconds.

Its never a bad idea to lube an O ring chain.
