I believe someone from over there was testing/using an aftermarket CDI. Look through a couple of back pages of posts. His results seemed favorable.

Dunno if it works for a 250. Might give the guy a shout and see what he says.

You won't get hold of him here. He got the boot. check with gregp.

Yes. I have one. It works well, and is a universal design, as far as I can tell. It cost about $70 and performed well. Mine shook a wire free from the board, and I had to re-solder it, but overall, it works very well.

No. The "Wolf Pak" ignition was originally designed for the "E" series KDX 200. I contacted the guy, and asked him if it would work in a newer "H" series KDX200. His response was something like "I don't see why it wouldn't" and offered a full refund if it did not work out. He is an honest guy, as far as I can tell.

Hi Blackdog

think that my cdi on my 250 sr has given up the ghost as well, did you manage to get one?, I called electrex today and testing was £45, and a repair was approx £150 plus tax, but it was a difficult conversation and looking at their website could not see one for my sr, was thinking in desperation of going the whole hog and replacing the stator plate cdi and regulator from a non sr model, be interested to know if anyone has done this?
