Fuel tank cap replacement?

Post by SS109 »

Well, I have cracked my second factory cap. I don't know whether it is due to age, me over tightening it, or a combination thereof. I really don't want another plastic cap if I can help it. So, does anyone know of an aftermarket aluminum or steel cap that will fit the E series KDX or KDX250?

I honestly didn't think I was putting them on too tight but maybe I was. I just snugged them down. Maybe an 1/8 turn after the seal touches the tank. Oh well, I shouldn't have that problem anymore! This is what I got off of Ebay.

Counldn't figure out why there was fuel on my tank. Looked closer and noticed a split around the top.

I just took one of those over weight bulky outlaw gas caps off of my bike and installed a KX85 cap. A KX 85 cap works great and won't split like the stock caps.

I'm not worried too much about the little bit of weight this gas cap will add. However, thanks for the tip on the KX85 cap!

i bought pretty much the same one as that minus the outlaw engraving. mine was for a 2000 cr 250 off rockymountainatv... works great, only thing is when you loosen and tighten the edges of the cap are kinda sharp.

other than that its gone inverted a few times and never leaks! cant beat a 20 cap that works and looks great!

It came yesterday. Used it Saturday and it did it's job. Looks nicer in person than in the pic. It should bling up my 200 when I get it done.

that's what I was going to say. I'd rather break a cap and have to replace it instead of the tank.
