Hi, I am a bit of a newbie to the KDX world, I have a 89-90 (I an estimating year based on info here) KDX200 which I have recently purchased and am in the process of tidying up. However I have noticed that my KDX has a three speed gearbox, 1 N 2 T, and I can't seem to find any reference to this gearbox anywhere. All the info I can find refers to the 6 speed gearbox. I have the non road going version, i.e no lights or meter. Has anyone come across the KDX with a three speed?

Any help would be great

Cheers

Are you sure it is a three speed and not a broken 6 speed?

All 200's had a 6 speed gear box. Yours is broken.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses, It is definately a three speed from what I can tell. Even the front sprocket cover which has the gear shift pattern on it lists the shift pattern as 1 N 2 T.

I am in New Zealand. I am just waiting for some parts to arrive then I will pull it apart and find out for sure, But I was just wondering if anyone had come across this before.

i thought honda 50's only come with a 3 speed  ..........i have never heard of a 3 speed in a kdx before. i had a kx250 that had a 3 speed, because the 3-4 imput shaft bearing had seized up, and it wouldnt turn the gears for 4+5 to engage.

Maybe someone bolted on a different sprocket cover?

Seems really odd to put a 3 speed tranny on a full size bike.

Can you show us a pic of your KDX and the sprocket cover?

hmm. if the sprocket cover / case guard thing says that, and the bike only shifts that many times, seems an awfully big coincidence if it wasn't made that way? maybe not a kdx motor?
