carb problems

Post by big gear head »

I thought I had the carb on my 220 fixed, but it's still not right. I'm down to a 38 PJ, 142 MJ and the stock needle is on the top groove. The idle mixture screw doesn't work very well. If I turn it in all the way the engine will load up and quit. If I turn it out 2 turns it runs pretty good, but I can also take the screw completely out and it still runs the same. I don't think that's right. It still doesn't run smooth on the bottom end. It's pretty good at WOT. I've got a 36 PJ coming, so I'm going to try that when it gets here. Anybody else had any problems like this?

I think I'd try a 38/140 with the clip down one groove. 36 seems pretty lean on the pilot but it might be what you need.
