Jetting changes
I am just curious to hear what jetting others are running in their H series 200's, with similar mods as i have - an FMF woods pipe/silencer combo, a V-Force reed cage, and the air box cover removed. My bike was running fine with a 155 main jet, until i changed out the stock reed cage for the V-force unit. Now, it is very rich on the top end, and blubbers badly. I am going to have to go leaner - maybe to a 150?

I live not too far from you, probably about the same elevation and what not. My bike has all the same as yours plus the RB'D carb. My main is 152 and the pilot is 42 needle in the middle. Mine is a little rich in the main but I rarely go up there. The bottom feels good but there is spoo. Over all it runs good enough to not screw with it much other that the air screw.

Just an update: As I mentioned, I am in MA, and at about 600' elevation. My '04 200 was running a 45 pilot jet and a 155 main jet, with the stock needle. I have an FMF woods pipe, an FMF "shorty" silencer (no SA), and a V-Force reed cage with an open air box. I first installed the 42 pilot jet and the 148 main jet. Things cleaned up a quite a bit, but my bike was still very rich at the top and bottom ends. I pulled the carb again and installed the 38 pilot jet and the 142 main jet, and the motor ran very crisply, but I am still getting 4 stroking at the very top of the rev range. Odd. I am hesitant to go leaner yet, so i will ride the bike the way it is for a while, and maybe go leaner the next time I have to place an order for parts. In the meantime, I will maybe pull the top end apart and look for any obstructions in the power valve assembly, and pop a new piston in there...
Thanks for the help, guys!

I don't get to the top end very often but when I do it seems to run ok. What is your plug looking like? I do also have the RB carb but other than that everything else looks to be the same.
Have you checked the compression?
I like to run a little rich rather than lean so your 38/142 may be better as far as response. Let me know how it works for you.
P.S. What is going on with the Mass trails in the western part of the state. If I remember we are about 2-3 hours apart, might be able to meet up for a ride some time.

Randy, no, I have not done a compression check, and I am well over due for a piston. The bike runs fine, except for the very top end, where it will not rev out as far as I would like it to. The plug was looking very wet and black, and I have not installed a new plug and had a look with the new leaner jetting yet. I have a dent in the lower part of my head pipe, which possibly could be contributing to this (but I doubt it).
The MA trail system is weak at best, and now the are demanding that my street plated, inspected KDX also be off road registered as well. Crazy!
