Rotate Which Way for Preload

Post by UI Vandal »

It looks like I need to adjust the preload on the rear of my KDX. The top lock collar rotates counter-clockwise (from the top) to loosen. Is the bottom collar adjusted the same or is it reverse threaded (clockwise to loosen)?

why would they be different if they are using the same thread?

If you did a good job cleaning everything before hand, you can sometimes turn the spring with both hands and the collar will turn with it

Lift the Mud Flap out of the way, grab the spring with both hands and turn left or right. Much easier than pounding the collar.

Put the bike on a stand first to completly unload the suspension and a squirt of WD-40 on the threads near the collar will help.
