Post by trailcutter »

hi green men

piston / ring gap/ bore all measured up well inside spec...

no percievable deformation can be felt or measured on the sight of wear.

what is the diagnosis regarding ,,the wear pattern..

cheers

looks like scuffing on the exhaust side. Part of what you see is probably aluminum deposits from the piston skirt. You can probably clean it up some with a schotchbrite pad and plenty of elbow grease or some muriatic acid.

All in all, looks ok.

How does the piston look? It does look like scuffing from the lower ring down.
The cross hatch looks odd to me.

Fresh piston and rings, good for many more miles.

Looks like you might have had some overheating going on at some point. Whatever happened, the cylinder does not appear to be damaged, so that's good. :partyman:
