Tusk flywheel puller and case splitter

Guys, I did search first but found nothing conclusive regarding either one!

Tusk flywheel puller. Will it work on an E series? They only list it for '97 up on RMATV. http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/produ ... lyId=17329

Well, since no one has responded yet.....

I think the case splitter is universal. I have never split an E series KDX, but I have split my KX250, an RM250, and a YZ80 with mine. It allows you to move the threaded studs wherever you need them. Don't see any reason it wouldn't fit the KDX.

The flywheel puller, I'm not sure on. But.....I have the same one and it worked on my KX250 and the YZ80. You will have to wait for a 200 guy to chime in to be sure.

On the flywheel puller, I belive it is a pretty much universal tool for most bikes. The one I have looks just like http://www.bikebandit.com/bikemaster-ma ... a#QAHeader And I belive the package said all KDX's but I cant find the package right now. My bike is an H so I cant say for sure it would work with yours.

As for the case splitter I think Wibbens said something about one of them not working. Maybe he will show up and say for sure.

27mm x 1mm is the thread for the flywheel puller I bought for my 89 kdx and 98 yamaha. The one on rmatv is the same thread (27 x 1) and it will fit a good number of different bikes. You certainly can not get the engine apart without one of these. The need for a tusk splitter and puller are up for argument, but I got them for my kdx rebuild just to make the process goes as smooth as possible.

The tusk case splitter and crank puller are universal... I have them both but haven't opened the boxes yet. However, I have seen others post on here about their use on the kdx engine so I'm not expecting any trouble if I ever have to use it.

I rebuilt a 98 yamaha rt 180 engine without a splitter - used some pieces of angle iron and drilled a few holes in it. For the crank bearing I used the freeze and heat method, which required no pressure.

However, the tusk case splitter and puller should make the process easier, especially if a little effort beyond heating / cooling is needed to get the crank fit back into the bearing.

That splitter would be nice

The bike shop I go to doesn't even have a proper splitter

they just use a piece of aluminum sheet approx. 6" x 14" and about 1/4" thick. It has a whole bunch of holes drilled into it

They just get 3 holes lined up and start cranking them down.

Likewise. I use two pices of angle iron welded together, which a hole for the crank, and holes that line up with the case bolts.

Yeah, no Sh#t. I spent $60 on one only to find out that it wasn't necessary. Now it just sits on my workbench. Guess I'll just wait until one of my riding buddies locks-up a bottom end so I can put it to good use.

They came today. Everything worked great. I would definitely recommend the splitter and flywheel puller. I also ordered a flywheel holder and it worked great. I would like to see longer pins on it but that is just my personal preference.
