street gearing
Now that many have converted their kdx's to street/trail, I was wondering what gearing people have chosen as a happy compromise. I almost never need first gear for the trails so figure I can up gear a decent amount so I'm not screaming at 50 mph on the street.

My '04 200 is street legal and registered, but in no way do I use it for commuting or even running around at all. I just needed the registration to be able to link the trail systems together. Hence, I am currently running 13/51 gearing, which is just a bit lower than the 12/47 I was running.
I guess it all depends on what you want to do with your bike. If you really want to ride on the road a lot, I would suggest that the stock (13/47) gearing is fine, or maybe even go to 14/47 if the chain is long enough.

I run stock gearing, 13/47. Like Greg I mainly use mine for connecting trails so I'm not going to sacrifice the bike's off road capabilities for the little amount I actually hit the pavement.

Mine is stock. My local trails are 11 miles away, so I do 22 miles round trip on the road. But it is all twisty back roads, some are even dirt/gravel so I haven't bothered with changing the gearing.
