HELP!! Seized Linkage Bolt

Post by kmk797 »

Hi guys, I recently purchased a decent 96 kdx 200. It had some play in the suspension linkage so I decided to pull it off and replace them. The problem is I cant budge the last bolt thats up on the frame behind the cases.I got the nut off but cant get it out.I cant figure out how to get any leverage on it.The whole back end of this bike has been neglected,The rear axle wouldnt budge so I had to hammer it out and ruined the threads   Any help would be greatly appreciated.THANKS

It is hard to get a straight shot on that bolt.

Try taking your rear brake lever lever off. As I recall, that lets you get a punch through to the end of the bolt.

Heat and penetrating oil help, of course.....

I had the same problem. An impact gun on the bolt head and a brass drift and a big hammer on the threaded end will eventually do it.

The problem is that the inner races of the swingarm bearings are corroded to the bolt. Only the hammer and drift will get them out. The impact will put vibration into the siezed connection.

Try some penetrating fluid too on the inside race of the swing arm bearings.

Good luck, it feels really good once you get the bitches out.
