Water pump seal install (94 KDX 250)

Need some help on the water pump seal. Which way does the seal go in? With the writing on the seal facing toward the back of the impeller, or other way around? Thanks, New guy and maybe old question.

If its not a steel gasket it shouldnt matter as long as all the bolt holes and dowl pins line up. If your really worried about a leak you can apply some RTV from your local auto parts store. If you do apply RTV make sure to use very little. Like paper thin coating you dont want it to mush out

From the manual...
Set the oil seal (thick) so that dual lips side face outward and set the oil seal (thin) so that a lip faces outward as shown.
