I see in the pictures that you have two different pipes on the bike. Which pipe are you using? The reason I ask is because the first pic looks like a stock pipe and from the pic it looks like the pipe may be touching the frame and that can make for some bad noises. My pipe took a good one and is now touching the frame and is making funny noises from time to time. Maybe try to put your foot on the pipe while it is making the noise and see if it changes or goes away.

Try pushing on the pipe with your foot while ridding it. I know it makes mine make funky noises. And with out hearing the noise it is all just guessing.

are you saying it an 05 hybrid cause the motor is a 05 or caause the donor bike was a 05.
from the pics that you put up the bodies not a 05.its a 03.how you can tell is that there is a black cap on the swingarm for the linkage bolt on 04 an up kx125.
this is my $900 dollar score last year.
2004 kx125
look at the swinger for that cap.

I have that same noise on my old KDX, still rattles at idle and makes a slightly different noise whenever I pull the clutch in. I don't know what it is, and whenever I rev it the noise just gets louder.

The sound at idle that you are referring to is known as KIPS rattle, and it's perfectly fine. KIPS rattle goes away when you rev it though. If you have a rattle that gets louder when you rev it, it's most likely a main bearing, rod bearing, or piston slap.

Don't you have a friend that could maybe help you tear into it? There are not very many shops I would trust!

Around here, the different engine in a different frame would confuse some shops.

no ****. Around here the right engine in the right frame is enough to get them to screw up something easy to fix...
