Does the noise change/vary with the speed of the bike or engine RPM?

Do you hear the noise at idle? If you are at idle in neutral, does the noise change when you pull in the clutch?

How did you blow the engine?

I was riding it yesturday on some of the gravel roads by the house was revved pretty good so i would say high rpms it made the noise in 5th and 6th gears i down shifted gave it gas and it did it again shifted back up and it did it, havent had the bike long, I was told that wide open all the time is not good on a 2 stroke so wont be doing anymore back roads riding,
the rest of the time riding it it sounds fine other than the normal tap im used to hearing,
as far as blowing it up not sure exactly how i did it i cracked the piston and burned up the rings and scared the cylender, had cylender replated and new piston and rings put in

Since you said it was happening in the upper RPM's and it is either there or not (and doesn't vary), I"m going to say it has something to do with the KIPS trying to engage/disengage.

That is really the only thing I can think of that would act kind of like a switch. Most other noises are going to vary based on either the speed of the bike or engine RPM.

Did you rebuild the top end or have a shop do it?

still don't understand what you mean.
Are you running a 220 carb on your 220 or a 200 carb?
The carbare different, the 220 is smaller than the 200 but it should work just the same on your 220.

Anyway; it doesn't matter what carb you have, the jetting procedure is still the same.

I'm guessing the size of the carb is unknown. The OP didn't build the bike, right? I'm going to assume that the 220 engine had a 220 carb with it. This is really irrelevant to the question anyway. When we talk about the procedure for jetting a 2 stroke, it is specific to 2 strokes, but bike and size of carb do not matter. You must follow the same steps regardless.

This might be asking too much, but if you could get a digital audio file of the sound, like a short video if you have a digital camera, or just sound if you have a digital audio recorder. You email it to one of us and we can get it online for you somewhere so folks can have a listen. I don't think this would be kips rattle, not under a load. I imagine it could be reed flutter, but it could also be something more serious. It is very hard to diagnose a sound without hearing the sound. Descriptions can be misleading...

Welcome to KDXRider, btw! That is a great looking bike!
