I can't wait

Post by Grayhorse »

It was 83 at my house today, the warm weather felt great after the long winter we've had. I have some friends coming down next weekend from western New York, we have hotel rooms booked for four days at Hatfield Mccoy. I just had a local shop set up my suspension front(kx) and back, I can't wait to go ride!!!!!!!!!!! :partyman:

We finally had a ncie day yesterday. It was nice riding in just a jersey and not a heavy jacket or sweatshirt over top  .

I can't say about AZ, but in OK I ride all summer long, however we hit the trail at the crack of dawn and ride till 1-2 PM top; after that it's far too miserable to ride, 95-105F is hard on your body and at that point not so much fun in the woods.

I feel lucky to be in Virginia. I can ride pretty much year round. Temps can get to be very uncomfortable at either end of the guage, but not unbearable.

Yeah I would do what scheckaet and be at there at the crack of dawn to try and avoid that kind of heat lol.

We have been considering moving after I get done with school (adult student), and my wife has really bad allergies and asthma and her doctor actually suggested somewhere like Az. But now I don't know if I want to if I can't ride all summer  . She rides too (street bike of her own) and we want to move somewhere you can ride year round "comfortably". Meaning nothing less than 30 degrees on a regular basis.

Well, there are still plenty of places to ride in the summer. Remember, we have mountains out here! :supz: BTW, I don't mean to mislead when i say riding season is about over as a whole. It just pretty much is at my favorite spot. I still ride it in the summer, even in the extreme heat, but I don't ride hard and do everything at a very relaxed pace and take lots of water breaks.

As far as AZ riding goes, you just can't beat it! In the winter time it is normally excellent riding weather IMO. Yeah, it can dip down to the 30's (sometimes 20's) at night but warms up to at least the mid 40's during the day even in a serious cold spell. The norms are highs in the 50's, 60's, and even 70's so you can ride all day long.

Now, the summer months are another story. You want to be ready to ride very early and quit before noon when riding lower elevation areas. However, you can always head to to one of the mountain riding areas, and there are lots of them, where the temps are still in the 80's and have a great day of riding.

Honestly, I can't think of any place where you can ride so much varied terrain, all year, and you have so much of it! The riding is the only thing that keeps me in AZ!
