Front rotor

Post by rbates9 »

Just wondering what the BIG difference is between the front rotors that "float" (stock H series) and a solid rotor (fixed, no float). Pros and cons?

A rigid rotor has less flex, obviously, so therefore supposedly more uneven brake pad wear and less efficient braking power. A floating rotor is able to move just a bit and self aligns better with the brake pads which increases pad life and theoretically more consistent braking.

Personally, I have never noticed a difference.

Thanks, that makes sense. The biggest difference I have noticed is the floating disk seems to have a little give when you first hit the brakes. I have never noticed it when riding, just when playing with the brakes going very slow.

If you ever upgrade to a different rotor like galfer, or even the tusk you will feel a difference in stopping power!
