kx fork slider interchangeability
Hi Everyone,
I bought a pair of 2005 kx 250 forks and one slider has a dent at the bottom. Won't affect it during riding but causes the fluid to leak when collapsed to fill it. Im looking around for another set of forks and was wondering which years have the same sliders and if 125 will work as well.
Thanks

Yep. Look up the part on Ron Ayers website (http://www.ronayers.com/) and then do the reverse look-up.Tedh98 wrote:I'd get the part number and then do a reverse look-up to see what other years and bikes use that slider.

everything I have found shows that those lower fork sliders were only used on 2005 kx250. Probably some differences in the wheel and caliper mounting.
You can see this on ron ayers if you do as suggested above (i checked). Cheap cycle parts also has a similar reverse lookup which gave the same info.

Yeah only thing I could think of would be the lower tube
Won't affect it during riding but causes the fluid to leak when collapsed to fill it
If the fluid leaks when you fill it, what do you think will happen when you hit a BIG bump?

I've never seen a pair of forks compress all the way to the bottom inch.Mr. Wibbens wrote:Yeah only thing I could think of would be the lower tube

Is there a way to identify that my forks are the showa's?

If those are in fact 2005 KX250 forks they would be KYB twin chamber forks

I read a review on the 2005 kx 250 and they said the forks were a major improvement over the 2004. From what I have read from people that have done the conversion it was just a matter of finding a pair that are inverted. Are some dramatically better or worse? If all things equal as far as twin chamber and so on is one manufacturer better than the other?
I hope I'm not dragging a thread out beyond its' death ;)
