Cleaning

Post by blimpman »

I have a 1990 KDX200. What I would like to do is get the engine really clean. It has a grime "film" that is not like caked on dirt but rather like a coating that I assume has accumulated over time.

Anyone know what I could use to get it out of the little nooks and off the surfaces? Power washing has not touched it. I have tried Purple Power, various other cleaners. I'd like not to have to pull the motor to accomplish this but maybe this summer I will. Any help would be appreciated.

I used Krud Kutter on mine, put it on the motor dry and let it soak reaply a few times

Then scub it really good

Then I used wire brushes on the really difficult areas

Some manual, some drill powerd and some dremel

Whole thing was stained orange from the red clay we ride in

I just tried the baking soda blasting last night and WOW that works great! :supz: Tried it on some hubs and a cylinder head and it works great and is pretty quick.
