Subframe Question

Hey guys....new to the KDX family and wondering what is the purpose of the little "stub" that sticks off the subframe near the right rear number plate? I tried some searching but I apparently don't know what to call it...or what to search for.

There has been a lot of speculation on that but no one knows for sure!

I think it's there to protect the exhaust in a crash - if you look, without that piece there would be a big opening where it could get hit.

I would go with the crash bar for the pipe theory.

Nope. The E series has the same nub, but one on each side. So unless there was a KDX with exhaust on both sides, I don't buy the pipe protection theory.

Handle for moving the bike without destroying the side panel gets my vote.

I agree...I think it's some sort of grab handle.

I tend to agree. I tried it out this morning...putting the bike on a stand. It's more handy than trying to grab under the seat.

One of my buddies thought it was a place to hang your helmet after a ride.
