Question on the yellow wire that needs to be clipped in order to remove the stator from the plate. Do I just put it back on the plate, install it in the engine and solder it right back on? Or can I solder a new wire on and make male/female connectors so I can easily install/remove the stator if necessary? Also, if adding wire, what kind and gauge do I need?

I would solder it back on, you could put some insulated bullet connectors there but the less connections you have the better. If adding wire go back with the same size copper wire with as many strands as you can find, I think it's 16ga? but check to make sure.
