What is the best reed cage / carb setup?

Post by rbates9 »

I'm looking to get a new reed cage soon and am just looking to see what seems to work better.

I'm also going to be getting the RB magic done to the carb about the same time.

Setup I am after is stock cage, boyesen 607 reeds, rb'd carb.

The vforce performance is supposed to be pretty good. Have seen a few to many pictures of them in pieces to want one in my bike though.....

I have the stock cage, 607 reeds and rb'd Airstriker carb set up. I love it! And... the reeds only cost about $40. I have no experience with the Vforce.

VF3's and RB carb here. Very snappy low end, I'm happy with the VF3's.

Just seems to do A LOT less on the KDX than the MotoTassarni. RadValve seems better on other bikes....Like they half-assed the KDX one.

Still running a modified VF2 on the original reeds

Used to run 607's but like the VF2's a lot better, runs like a different bike

607's seem to flutter a lot

The DF2's often did not fit on an E series for some reason

I had to carefully shave some material off the sides, until it fit

I ended up going with a VF3 and an RB'd carb. I wanted to try one at a time but couldn't wait so they both went on together. The bike runs much better just about everywhere now.

I loved the rad valve that was on my bike, Fuzzy. Inda just felt I should go back to the stock valve for some reason. He said it would be better for my abilities or something like that.

KDX Maniac, if you are not happy, let me know and I will make it right.

my bike is a 96..........put the rad valve on it, replacing the 607s, and it seems just as good on the bottom. not really better, but about the same. mid is better, and power seems to come on sooner. top end seems better too. all in all, runs better than the 607s. im happy.
