As I think back over my ownership years of my 2 H series KDX's, other than an occasional plug fouling, the only other breakdown I have had is when my Fredette chain guide fell off once. That is really amazing!

A satellite phone would be needed most places I ride. I've thought about that SPOT thingy, problem is if you're under a rock or in deep canyon covered with trees it may not work.

I'm never far from a friend or the truck most times so i just carry a backpackers first aid kit (fits perfectly in the stock bag) and a plug wrench.
I used to never bring a first aid kit riding yet when backpacking I would but now days I wont leave home without it,you never know when you'll need it.I cant remember the brand I carry but it really packs a lot of what you need,none of the crap you dont in a small square pouch.
