kick start shaft oil seal guide necessary?

Post by chadr »

Is there a decent way to get the side cover back without using the kick start shaft oil seal guide part number 57001-263?

I was going to try working the seal around the raised part of the shaft with a thin straight pick but it seemed to want even more pressure than I expected.

I may get a complete gasket and seal set so perhaps it is included in something like the moose set?

What substitute can I use? Anyone want to loan me the guide? I'll send you a usps label if so. Thanks.

I spent some more time tonight on it and found it was very easy using the pick to get the seal started. That guide surely is not needed.
