Aftermarket KDX headlight

Post by jad628 »

Having just recently acquired my "95 KDX 200, I am trying to get it up to snuff. The previous owner eliminated the headlight assembly and installed a number plate (he didn't keep the assembly). For my needs, I want to have a headlight, so I am looking to get a replacement. I believe I saw that UFO made an aftermarket replacement assembly and was curious if anyone has an opinion on it or any other type. I'm open to about anything that is recommended and this site looks like a great resource for good advice.

Thanks,

John

John, my situation was similar except that my bike had a busted up headlight shroud with no headlight that looked really nasty. I looked for an OEM replacement for a while on ebay etc, but they are rare and expensive. I looked at aftermarket too and ended up with a Polisport MMX Headlight from Rocky Mountain ATV.

Here's a link

I am told this is fairly robust and it looks good. Kinda even looks like the OEM unit. I haven't installed it yet so I can't comment on installation or operation, but I like what I see so far.

UFO make a very good replacement headlight & shroud for the kdx (ghibe)..they are fixed by rubber hoops that mount around the forks & flex a little unlike the oe kdx shroud which is fixed, so should fair well in a crash!

Not bad, you need to work on the dismount. Much more entertaining with a dismount.

That got a family laugh from us. The whole reason I bought the KDX was to ride with my ten-year-old son who got his first dirt bike for Christmas. On NYE, he and I were going along pretty good in a field and a 20" oak jumped up right in front of him like that. A full-faced helmet kept the dings to a minimum though.

Thanks for all the info guys. I just locked in on a used (but good shape) UFO headlight along with a bunch of other parts. I'm really looking forward to riding this KDX a lot after a 27 year hiatus.

I like this. Stock from a KLX450. Probably to pricey to buy new. I got this one used. Almost looks stock to me.
