Maier fender
the rear fender is made by UFO i had a complete plastics kit inc a 2003 kx 125 front fender instead of the kdx square item which gives it a slightly modern look..i also managed to pic up a rare maier kx rear disc & caliper guard ( you can just see it in 1 of the pics )..the blue coloured tool bag i had made by a guy from new zealand , its slightly bigger than the OE item which is handy for bigger tools etc or even a small oil bottle..i also slightly modified a kxf 250 chain guide ( in green ) to fit the swingarm & trimmed the side stand mount so it sticks up more ( you can see the difference in the pics ) handy mod if you ride rutted/ gullied trails ! ..another favorite is the kx kicker which you cant see..again if your tall or long legged its a woth while mod
i have done lots more here & there & will try to sort out some pics when i get around to fitting the kx forks..
carts is your bike a 200 or 220?

Re: Maier fender
lol
i was gonna post a pic of the peoples poet cartoon here
"pigs hassling the kids"
but i cant find it
oh well
funniest thing, my sister has a 600, think its and FZR and the license plate is about the same size as your bigger one...it has the most percular fold running right down the center...almost like someone tried to make it not show up in certain pictures
on a side note, i can fit a 350 ML water bottle in my stock fender bag and it is enough for one whole tank at 40-1

Re: Maier fender
there seems to be some type of high tech anti theft device attached to the dudes rear sprocket
almost looks like a padlock ?

Yeah...Bikes like this go walkabouts quite often over here, easy target with the kick n go system! at least with that padlock the shites will have to lift the back end 2 miles down the road

Re: Maier fender
yeah, same here
i keep a disc brake lock in the fender bag for whenever i need to leave the bike in a parking lot
i added a toolbox to my trailer (which is also keyed and locked) and amongst the basics in there is a 20 foot chain with a padlock
it happens quite often me and the missus go away for a weekend and i trailer the bike along
i can use the chain to lock up both the bike and the trailer
sure, if they really want to steal it they will always find a way (someone once broke into my parents house to steal my sisters boyfriends crotchrocket out of the garage) but at least i wont make it easy on them
on a side note, i dont keep the bike locked up in my own garage either

lol, I usually have a chain from the front wheel to the frame also, but will probly fix a mount into the garage wall or floor to chain it to!diymirage wrote:there seems to be some type of high tech anti theft device attached to the dudes rear sprocket

best to be safe than sorry
Martin,
I do like the polisport lights, but being halogen you would definitely need to do a stator rewind, it may still struggle then when wiring a high beam also, obviously I wouldn't use the leds for the mot.
how do you and alan get on come mot time? only most people with the kdx seem to remove the lights due to them being pants! and go for a daytime mot only!
best regards

John, regards to MOT my kdx runs full lights ..hi & lo beam, rear tail & stop light plus a working horn...the power output is poor so when the lights are on & i apply the rear brake or horn, the headlight dims...its quite fun at night!! ..my MOT inspector is pretty good with me ( he only checks one item at a time & if it works it passes )..you can tape up or remove the lights altogether ( UK ) for a daytime MOT although it wont say `daytime MOT` on the certificate just an advisory, eg no lights at time of test, just dont get caught by the police when dark...the kdx electrical system will require you to run a rear light though as to discharge any bulid up on the rectifier or you will eventually burn out the stator which is why the rear always stays on on some models.. the polisport headlight you should be able to fit the bulb & holder from the kdx with a bit of work..if you run a led rear bulb you wont suffer the dimming when applying the brake or horn due to its low output..you should find the wireing to fit a rear brake switch on the L/H side of the loom.

Cornish you are spot on there! when i first took mine for an MOT i had the light dimming problem when the horn was pressed, so i removed the juicy rear light & installed a led rear light/brake light, this solved the problem, 35 watt down to 3 watts (or something like that)? i also removed the propper horn for a battery type, very loud & does the job.
I have ran my headlight with no problems so the polisport i think will be ok for my replacement, saying that i very rarely use the bike at night time so its mainly just the brakelight im interested in.
John... Regarding the MOT, when i last took my bike for the test, i mentioned the day time MOT & the guy stated that "they don't exist anymore" looking around at the other guys in the garage who all agreed with him!
I belive they do exist but not at their place?
