1993 KDX 250 REBUILD.....WITH SOME KX PARTS
If it were me, I'd get the gaskets you need rather than RTV.

Yes I have all the gaskets. Typically though I normally add RTV to create a better seal and help hold the gasket in place.
Ive never done a 2stroke though.

A little RTV is fine to hold things in place. I like that copper coat gasket spray adhesive.....
Should be some U-Tube stuff on assembling that motor. Make sure the arrow on the piston points to the exhaust! Use no hammers.

Re: 1993 KDX 250 REBUILD.....WITH SOME KX PARTS
I swapped my 92 kdx250 motor into a 96 kx250 frame. Everything swapped over easily....as far as modifications to make fit:
1. Bore engins casing for kx SA bolt.
2. Cut swingarm n bushes to match. (Kdx motor wider than kx, approx .12-14 mm) fairly easy.
3. Top Mount at head stay, open up 1 mounting hole for better fitment.
4. Fabricate new upper expansion chamber mount. I used 3/16 by 1" flat stock alum.
Results: I dont get to ride it much, cant keep my kid off it!! Lol
Much much lighter, better handling and better looking too!
Hope this helps.

Base gasket should be just clean and dry. RTV is not fuel proof. The fuel will dissolve it in time and can create a vacuum leak.romanm wrote:So do I use any rtv for the base gaskets or head gasket when assembling this thing together?
Never did get around to putting the topend together this weekend due to other things that came up.
Any real good how-tos for this kips?
If head gasket is steel the spray sealer is fine but not really a must have. Dry is ok too with a nice machine surface..
U-tube should help on the kips.
