Gearbox oil leaking....
Hi all, just completed a top end rebuild...piston/rings/water pump seal, fired the bike up today & noticed fresh gearbox oil leaking out of the water pump weep hole (with engine running), not sure what has caused this, can any of you guys advise on what has gone wrong? Thanks

Gearbox oil leaking....
Hi carts, it sounds to me like the oil seal on the water pump drive shaft has sprung a leak.
If your bike hasn't been used for some time this can cause it.

Yep, luckily easy to replace the seal. do the bearing at the same time while it's all open.

Gearbox oil leaking....
Thanks boys! It seems I overlooked the oil seal, i replaced the rest including the bearing but for some reason didn't replace the oil seal while I was in there, oh well... could have been worse! by the way, I have just noticed that the water pump seal kit I purchased was for the KDX 200 & not the 220 (which I have) same year though, just out of interest...are they the same part for both bikes?

Re: Gearbox oil leaking....
only difference between the 200 and the 220 is the barrel, piston, center KIPS valve, carb and chain
(maybe the CDI aswell, not sure)
other then those parts everything is the same and interchangeable
