Hey all,

I have a '94 kdx250. I've had it for about four years and am thinking about fixing it up some. I rode it quite a bit the first year, but then used it mostly for friends and family when they visited, while I rode an EXC450. That's gone and I'm enjoying riding the kdx again.

Hi Everyone,

I recently picked up an '00 KDX200, and sold my '94 250. The 200 is in stock shape and was used pretty much for light duty trail riding. I'm fixing her up for turkey runs, maybe an occasional hare scramble and enduro. I'm aware of the fork upgrade but will prolly stick with the oem fork for now. First upgrades are to add rear brake light functonality, the IRC Vulcanduro tires that I liked to run on the EXC, and some good quality bark busters. Can anyone point me toward posted experiences of the brake light conversion? I believe there are two solutions, one mechanical and the other hydraulic? Thanks much.

Try searching around here Dave, I know there have been posts on led conversions. From what I've read around here that 200 will handle much better than the ol 250. But that 250's supposed to be a fine motor.

Yes, and hell yes. Going to the 200 is a good trade-off though if you ride tight stuff.

when i did mine i just ordered a dual filament socket off off ebay (beleive it was an 1157 style)
i used the stock wiring for the tail light and then ran a positive wire from the rear brake light switch to the brake light filament
(i did remove the little resistor or whatever it was thingy)

thats the mechanical switch and my bike (96) came with one
i think if you want to install a front brake light switch you need the hydraulic one

im still not sure on what bulbs i like better, the LEDs dont last very long but the regular ones draw too much power and kill my headlight when i hit the brake
