It's great to be picking up a new sport! I've been downhill mountain biking for 20+ years in BC, and just picked up my first ever motorbike.

It's a 2003 KDX220R, and I've only ridden it down the block so far. I've spent a total of 2 hours on a 1976 110cc Yamaha last weekend and was hooked!

Thanks to your forum, I knew to ask the owner if the piston's been changed - he thinks the previous owner did, but wasnt' sure. I guess I'll have to pull it out.

One question - Kawasaki specs say 32:1 oil in fuel, but buddy who sold it to me said he and the previous owner always used 50:1 and that I should stick with 50:1 that the bike's used to.

Should I stick with 50:1 or change to stock spec? Thanks!

Most people use 40:1 because it is easy to mix and provides a tad more protection than 50:1.

Make sure you are using the highest quality oil to mix at 50:1 if you plan to stay with that ratio...

And welcome to the forum... Your going to love that bike! :supz:

Welcome heckler.
This is a great site for everything KDX. I'm a KDX noob myself and the folks/info on this site have helped me immensely.

Just remember: Use the search before asking the question. I've found every question i've had so far has been asked 100 time already!!
